Oktoberfest 5K Run The weekend of September 18th 2010 will mark the 23rd year of the Baldwinsville Oktoberfest. There are several exciting changes to this year’s event including the return of the event to the Village of Baldwinsville and the addition of a 5K race for runners featuring Lock 24 on the Erie Canal and beautiful Paper Mill Island. The race will began and end at the corner of Crego Road and Tappan Street in Baldwinsville. Runners will be treated to arguably one of the most scenic courses in Central New York. The race is also unique in that it is an evening run beginning at 5:00 pm so runners can enjoy what is likely to be a comfortable fall run followed by food and beverages at the Oktoberfest. Sections of Tappan, Crego, Canton, and Grove Streets will be closed during the race. The course itself is certified by the USA Track and Field Association and professional chip timing will be provided by Auyer Timing. The cost of the race is $15 up until September 4th; $20 from September 5th through September 17th; and $25 for race day registration. All race proceeds go to the “Greater Baldwinsville Community Benefit Fund” which supports other local events, local government, scholarships, and charities in the Greater Baldwinsville area. Race registration forms are available on line at www.baldwinsvilleoktoberfest.com, www.fleetfeetsyracuse.com and at The Bikery, Fresh Mex, Mohegan Manor, Lock 24 Restaurant and other local businesses. On-line registration is also available at www.EZRacereg.com. All paid runners will receive an Oktoberfest glass mug and paid admission to the event. Free shuttle service will be available for runners from the finish to and from the Oktoberfest event. For more information contact Carlo Cuccaro at oktoberfestrun@hotmail.com. |
