Councilor Committee Reports and Comments:
Mr. Shepard said he had mentioned in a previous meeting that they were looking for volunteers to be on the Greater Baldwinsville Economic Development Agency committee and that he would be resigning his position as president of that group to commence his County Legislator position in January. He said as a group the GBEDA has discussed its functions and determined that they can be served by the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce and Greater Baldwinsville Community Development Fund. He said they have made the decision to disband the Greater Baldwinsville Economic Development Agency.
Mr. Shepard said the GBEDA applied for and received state grants for the lighting of the bridge in Baldwinsville, the Visitor’s Center and served as the non-profit for the Oktoberfest, Alumni Weekend and Margaritafest. He said the Greater Baldwinsville Economic Development Fund, along with the Chamber of Commerce, will continue these festivals and he will continue to be involved in planning Margaritafest.
Mr. Dudzinski said the trees the Board had previously authorized to be removed at the Erie Canal Trail have been taken down.
Mr. Dudzinski asked Mr. Hoy if the survey work at the site has been completed.
Mr. Hoy said it should have been finished last week.
Mr. Tupper said he attended a question and answer session with the Mayor of Seneca Falls, Mayor of Camillus and others about village dissolutions. He said they discussed the efficiencies or lack of efficiencies in the process and talked about whether these Villages should continue to be dissolved. He said there is evidence that the towns that are absorbing these villages cannot deliver the services in a less costly manner. He said this is an issue Van Buren should watch closely due to our town having part of the Village of Baldwinsville within its boundaries.
Mr. Sykes said he thinks it’s a good idea to study the dissolution now rather than wait until a petition may be filed. He said once that is done you have only 180 days to come up with a plan and that is not enough time to study the issue. He said once a study is done it may be that the current system is the most efficient and least costly.
Deputy Highway Superintendent Comments:
Mr. Virginia said the newspaper stated Whiskey Hollow Road is a seasonal road from September to April and he wanted to make sure everyone knows it is December to April.
Supervisor Comments:
Mr. Sykes said Eldan Homes has made their balloon payment for in lieu of park fees to the town in the amount of $16,000.00 as agreed to at the July 6, 2010 Town Board Meeting.
